Professional info

I am a young professional with a keen eye for detail, a knack for storytelling, and a can-do take control kind of attitude. I want to conquer the world one word at a time and I would love to find an opportunity to sink my teeth into 110% and start proving myself as a recognized journalist. I am enthusiastic and outgoing with a vibrant personality and I have a very well rounded set of skills to bring to the table so that your news is delivered in a timely, well communicated, beautifully presented way – every time. I have seen the world and now I am ready to start working my way up the ranks in the Canadian journalism industry. I am open to opportunities across Canada, I have my own vehicle and I am certified in First Aid.

Education

Sheridan College
Post Graduate Diploma - New Media Journalism

2010 - 2011

This program is like bootcamp for journalists - a two year program packed into 8 months. By the end of it I was working on a weekly new segment alternating as a local reporter and Sony XD camera operator. I recieved honourable mention for a full feature documentary, wrote local, national and international articles for the daily news in the online school paper and was an editor for our programs magazine. It taught me how to prioritize my time better, stay calm under pressure, and gave me a solid understanding of the basics of print and broadcast.

McMaster University
Bachelor of Arts - English & Cultural Studies

2006 - 2009

University taught me so much more than Shakespeare. I learned how to research properly.  I learned how to form and support an argument. I learned how to work under very strict deadlines. I learned how to take extremely harsh criticism and utilize it to my best possible advantage in order to improve my research, writing and presentatiion skills. These are lessons that I taken into my every day and professional life.
